Copyright and The Law

Copyright: The exclusive rights and protection given to an author or creator of an original work.

Copy-free: A type of licensing that makes the distribution of software available at no charge for noncommercial uses.

Trademark: A name, symbol, or other device used to identify a product, officially registered and legally restricted to the use of the owner or manufacturer.

Creative Commons: Organization that collects copy-free works, and distributes it ; One of several copyright licenses that allow the distribution of copyrighted works. The licenses differ by several combinations that condition the terms of distribution.

Royalty free: The right to use copyrighted material or property without needing to pay license charges for each use, per volume sold, or some time period of use, or sales. [Usually related to music]

GNU license: A free-software license that promotes the distribution of free works. [Similar to Creative Commons but for software]
 
Public Domain: Works that have no restrictions, and available or belonging to the public.

If something is copyrighted, it is likely to be reliable.
If something is copy free, question the reliability.

Checking Your Sources

Here are steps you should take to check and see if a video is a hoax or not:

• Watch the video twice at least.
• Think about what the video is trying to tell you, are the aims clear?
• Think about who made the video, and why?
• If you see a lot of assertions [saying things without supporting information], start doubting information.
• Research any information that you doubt is true. [About the creator, the information]
• Cross-check important facts from the video. If there are no information available, it's probably a hoax.

Flotilla Protest Homework

Have you had a look on various sources to find out what Marc (Marc3pax)does?

 I went to some difference websites, and "Marc" (real name is Israeli Omer Gersho) is actually an Israeli actor, and

the video was spreaded by the Israeli Government.

How does this video relate to the flotilla movement?

Its aim is to convey people that the flotilla movements are bad and not trustworthy, also saying that Palestinians are dangerous people. Linking Flotilla organizations with Hamas

Is the video objective?

No, definitely not. "Marc" is not even a real character, and his background info. has no real truth to support it.

Is there evidence supporting Marc3pax’s findings?

Not really. Except the one where Hamas insulted homosexuals, but otherwise his informations are mostly

unsupported or extremely biased.

1) Come up with a list of people who could report the story of the Flotilla Protests [In order from most biased]:

1. Israeli government

9. Protestors (Free Gaza Movement's activists, etc.)

I notice that the majority of people have their resting heart rate below 100, and of course, all active heart rates

are higher than normal heart rates.

Blogging Rules #3

3) Think Before You Post.

This rule has huge consequences, because it applies in so many cases. If you don't think and just post according to your emotions, then someone might see your post as offensive, disrespectful, etc... For example, if you post "yah crazhed da parteh lest naight" on a school blog, it obviously shows that you didn't think while posting this, because your audience are teachers and other students. Thus, blogging a post like that is not suited for school, because the subject is not related to education, plus, the grammar and spelling you're using is considered inappropriate for a school post. In conclusion, I think it is always important to think about what will happen before you post anything on a blog, because the consequences could always end up to be negative.

My ICT Target

Hi, William here, and I would like to thank you for visiting the blog first of all! I enjoy listening to all kind of music, mostly rap though. I also like playing video games and watching anime on my free time. I'm currently taking ICT 8, at AIS (American International School), and this blog is going to be mainly used for this subject only. We just started Semester 2 and are taking new courses, ICT is one of them. My main goal for ICT this year is to learn how to create animations, and the runner-up to that is improving my video editing skills. I'm excited, and looking forward to the rest of the school year.
